How to Root Micromax Unite 2 A106 and Install Custom CRT Recovery

<a href="http://www.skytechblog.com/2014/05/micromax-unite-2-a106-with-4-7-inch.html">Micromax Unite 2 A106</a> one of the few smartphone running Android 4.4 KitKat has finally received rooting treatment.  Micromax Unite 2 A106 has a 4.7 inch display with IPS technology and WVGA resolution. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek quad-core processor. It has a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel fixed focus front-facing camera. Overall a decent value for money phone by Micromax. Sudeep Duhoon over at XDA Developers has finally found out a way to successfully Root the Micromax Unite 2 A106 and also created a custom recovery for the device. 
Tip:- Developer suggests you to backup your phones stock rom with read back technique. And make sure you know basic things related to rooting. 
Instructions
1. Download and Install <a href="http://www.driverscape.com/download/mtk-usb-port-(com5) ">MTK VCOM drivers</a> on your PC. 
2. Download and copy <a href="http://download.chainfire.eu/446/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r3.zip">SuperSU v1.99r3.zip</a> to your memory card. 
3. Download this <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/c5afp4ddnha5k30/CTR%202.2%20A106.img">CTR v2.2 Recovery</a> and place it in pc.  
4. Download SP Flash tools (<a href="http://ge.tt/2K2jdYh1/v/0?c">here</a> or <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/download/aix6jxmcbxmmc2b/SP+Flash+Tool+3.1352.01+(5.1352.01).rar">here</a>) and Start it and load this 
<a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2776357&stc=1&d=1401705655">MT6582_Android_scatter.txt</a> in it. 
5. Click on 'recovery' in SP Flash.tools and select the downloaded CTR v2.2 Recovery. 
6. Click Download in SP flash tools, remove the battery from phone and connect it. A green circle will confirm flashing. 
7. Insert battery and press volume up+down+power on,  then press volume up to select recovery.
Note:- In CTR recovery you can swipe right to go forward and swipe back to go backward, use it to navigate, save volume buttons.
8. Tap on install from sd card and swipe right on screen to go forward, select SuperSU.zip and say yes to flash. 
9. Reboot/Restart, Done.
You will now see a SuperSU app in your app drawer that means you have successfully rooted and flashed a custom recovery on your Micromax Unite 2 A106.

Tip #1 Turn off Data when not on use
This is the first most important tip in our list, because most of the people don't turn off the mobile data access when its not in use. Due to this apps running in background still consume data and that also slows down your device
Tip #2 Kill Tasks and Apps running in background 
As we said in the first tip the apps running in the background can still consume alot data. Disable such apps for eg. Weather widgets can still connect to the internet when you are not using it.

Use Opera Mini browser and disable the Load Images options from the settings. This will stop loading any images from the web and will only allow Text to load up. This can save 90-99% data to load a website.
Tip #10 Control Yourself
If you need to do any major email correspondence or extensive web surfing, ask yourself if it can wait until you get to a computer. Just because you can do it on a smartphone doesn't mean you should - especially over cellular connectivity.

28nm process is a standard in all MediaTek chipsets starting from the low- end dual-core MT6572 or high-end eight-core MT6592. MT6572 and MT6582 which is the use of a common 28nm process. All this results in better frame rates while video playback, gaming and other graphics intensive tasks. 
 
Maximum Supported resolutions: 
The lower end processor like MT6572 supports only up QHD 540x960 pixels resolution as this used are in very low budget devices, MT6582 supports 720p HD display at its max. Higher end processor like MT6592 and MT6588 will support Full HD 1080p displays.

Exclusive! Micromax mobiles is planning to increase the Canvas series with new device called as  A200. We have some exclusive shots of the phone. The phone resembles the Canvas Magnus A117 in terms of looks. As you can see below it will feature a sim card tray which clearly means that you cannot remove the back cover, and the battery will be sealed inside it.
There is no official data on specifications but according to @MMXNewscaster the Micromax A200 will feature a 4.7 inch HD display with resolution of 1280x720 pixels and Gorilla glass 2 protection on top. And just like the recently launched Canvas 2.2 it will pack a similar 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6582 Quad Core Processor and coupled with. 1 GB RAM. The phone will have a 1800mAh no removable battery.

So what is Recovery :- Recovery is the bootable partition that has the recovery console installed. Each and every phone or tablet has its own combination of key to be pressed to enter the recovery mode if you want the key combination just Google it "How to enter in recovery mode in XYZ" (your device name). After getting into recovery mode you will get not so many options. You can install official OS updates through the "apply update" option in it. You guys must have noticed this when you get any OTA (Over The Air) update, as the update is downloaded your device automatically boots in recovery and install it. 
 
Stock recovery :- Stock recoveries is designed by the phone companies. All the stuff is limited you can't experiment more with it. And can only perform the stuff mentioned above and also such as Applying update, Formating data etc 
 
Custom recovery and Clockworkmod :- On the other hand developers create Custom Android recoveries which has more functionallity and options. It is a must have thing if your device is <a href="http://skytech101.blogspot.com/2012/12/understanding-rooting-in-android.html">rooted</a>. You can perform many things such as Backup and Restore of the OS,Selective deletion of data, apply non official update packages, Mount partitions which enables you to copy files to the SD card. And one of the most important things of installing a Custom Rom (a non official software update created by developers) to upgrade your device. 
 
One of the most famous name in custom recovery is "ClockworkMod" in short CWM. You guys must have heard this name when a custom recovery topic is going on. Benefits :-  If you rooted your device successfully you'll have root access you can now easily remove the bloatware, apps that comes with your phone, manually deny app permissions, run a firewall access the entire file system, or tether your device, with <a href="https://play.google.com/store/search?q=tether&c=apps">tethering apps</a> on Play store. 
You can also give root permissions to apps that require root access, Overclock the device or install custom recovery...etc. These list is never ending 
 
Disadvantages :- So all these were the benefits. There are some Disadvantages which you should know. 
 
Rooting Breaks Warranty :– Some manufacturers assert that rooting voids your device’s warranty. But rooting will not actually damage your hardware. You can also “Unroot” your device and your manufacturer won’t be able know whether your device was rooted or not you can simply Fool them ;) 
 
Bricking :– Rooting a device is a very safe process, unless its a tested method. But still there are  there are some chances of “bricking” a device when you don't follow the rooting process properly and hack around with it For example: If you’re trying to root a device not supported by a tool or app you might Brick your device.  “Bricking”means to breaking the device, making the device useless. When you root your beloved device and try to install a custom ROM, or otherwise hack around, you do so at your own risk. We will suggest you to do a bit of research first and see if other people report success rooting your device. And Don't follow the process meant for other devices. 
 
So should you Root your device?? 
 
Conclusion :- If u ask me then I would suggest you to do so. But only if you want to do special things and you are a extraordinary user. And if you are a Newbie than first understand all the thing mentioned above and do a bit research on Internet.
