This tricks will help you out to take screenshots in particular OS or phones
Android ICS and Jelly Bean :- If you are having a phone or a tab running Android 4.0, 4.1 or 4.2 you can take screenshots by Pressing the Power and Volume Down both the Keys at same time and hold them for a second. They will be saved in Screenshots folder. This method will work on literally all phones running ICS, Jelly Bean. By the same method you can take screenshots in phones by HTC, SONY, LG, MOTOROLA, ZTE, HUAWEI etc
Android Gingerbread and lower :- If your device is running Android 2.3 or lower version than you have to install any app from Play store. Or if your device is Rooted than try this app or any other
Windows phone 8 :- Just press and hold the Start and Power buttons at the same time to capture whatever is currently on your screen. Your screenshots are automatically saved in the Screenshots album in the Photos Hub. Applicable on all Windows phone
Apple iOS :- Press and hold the Menu/Home button. While the menu button is held quickly, press the Power/Lock button. The images are saved in "Saved Photos" or "Camera Roll" on your Apple iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
Nokia / Symbian :- There is no particular shortcut keys through which you can take a snap. But there another way download this app called "Screen capture" and set a shortcut key. Minimize the app and press the shortcut key, And now you have a screenshot saved to your preferred location, that you can access anytime using Gallery.
Samsung phones :- Even if your Samsung phone is running Android the above methods will not work. To take a screenshot you have to Press Home and Power key both at same time and Hold it for a second. This method will work on all Samsung phones even Bada and Java but based on latest firmware. In new devices like Galaxy S3 where you just have to Slide your Palm across the screen to capture a screenshot
